Frequently asked questions

Nineteen answers about building, paying for and downloading a CV — and about writing one in Arabic. If yours is not here, the last section says how to reach a person.

Getting started

Can I try Carivo before paying?
You do not have to try it before paying — most of it is simply free. Building, previewing and downloading a CV on any of our free designs costs nothing, and needs no account. What you pay for is the premium designs, and an account to keep and re-edit more than one CV.
Do I need an account?
Not to build one. You can write a complete CV and preview it without signing up. An account matters if you want to come back to the same document later, keep more than one CV, or download from a different device.
I already have a CV. Do I have to retype it?
No. Upload the CV you have and Carivo reads it into the builder — your roles, dates, education and skills land in the right fields. Check what it read before you carry on; a PDF written by someone else is not always laid out the way it looks.
How long does it take?
About fifteen minutes from an empty form, and a couple of minutes if you upload a CV you already have. The AI writes your summary and your role descriptions, which is the part most people stall on.

Pricing and payment

Is this really a one-time payment?
One of the three. Single Pass ($2.99) is paid once, with no recurring charge. Pro ($39.99/year) and AI Unlimited ($9.99/mo) are subscriptions and renew until you cancel, which you can do at any time from the billing portal.
What exactly is free?
Writing, editing, the live preview, the ATS score, the job-advert match — and the finished PDF itself on any free design, with no account needed. What you pay for is the premium designs, and an account to keep a library of CVs and come back to them.
Can I edit my CV after paying?
Yes. With a Single Pass you can edit and download again for seven days. With Pro you can edit and download as often as you like for as long as your subscription runs.
Can I cancel a subscription?
At any time, from the Stripe customer portal. Your access runs to the end of the period you have already paid for, and nothing renews after that.
Who handles my card details?
Stripe. Card numbers are entered on Stripe’s own checkout and never reach Carivo — we are told that a payment succeeded, and which plan it was for.

Templates and downloads

Are the templates ATS-friendly?
Every one of them exports real, selectable text rather than a picture of a CV, which is the thing that actually stops a parser. Beyond that they differ, so each template carries a rating we measured by printing it and reading it back — not a badge we assigned.
Which template should I pick?
Filter by your industry first, then by style. A conservative design travels further in government, banking and healthcare; a creative one is read as confidence in design, marketing and hospitality. You can change template after writing — nothing is retyped.
What do I actually download?
A print-ready A4 PDF, the same size and layout you saw in the preview. It opens anywhere, keeps its fonts, and can be attached to an application or printed without shifting.
Should my CV have a photo?
It depends where you are applying. Across the Gulf and much of the Middle East a photo is expected; in the UK, the US and Australia it is usually left off, and some employers discard CVs that carry one. Templates are offered both with and without.

Arabic and bilingual CVs

Can I write my CV in Arabic?
Yes. A CV carries its own language, so you can write in Arabic while reading the site in English or the other way round. Arabic CVs are laid out right to left, with Arabic-Indic numerals and Arabic month names.
Can I turn an English CV into an Arabic one?
In one click, in either direction. The translation is saved as a second CV rather than replacing the first, so you keep both and can edit them separately — job titles and employer names in particular are often better left as they are written.
What is a bilingual CV?
One document showing both languages together rather than two separate files — Arabic on one side, English on the other. Some Gulf employers and most government applications ask for it. Two templates are laid out for it.

Your account and your data

Who can see my CV?
You. A CV is stored against your account and is not published, listed or shared with employers or recruiters — Carivo is a place to write one, not a job board.
Can I delete a CV?
Yes, from My CVs, and it is removed rather than hidden. Deleting a CV does not cancel a subscription — that is done from the Stripe portal.
Something is wrong. How do I reach a person?
Through the contact page. Tell us which CV and which template, and if a download failed say what you saw — that is usually enough to reproduce it without going back and forth.

Still stuck?

Tell us which CV and which template, and what you saw. That is usually enough to fix it without going back and forth.
